ELBOW JANE are one of the very best bands on the folk and acoustic music scene. The band members are Richard Woods – lead vocals, guitars, mandolin and dulcimer. Kevin Byrne – vocals, piano and guitars. Joe Topping – vocals, mandolin, mandola and guitars. Chris Chesters – bass guitar and Colin Burgess – drums and percussion.

A reviewer in R2 magazine described their music as “utterly infectious” and called the band “one of the top acoustic acts in the country”. A review in Maverick magazine wrote that they have a “vibrant sound with soaring harmonies… a thinking man’s band that seems to have plenty to say and that “the musical arrangements are at times, magical.”

The band performs on bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, keyboards, percussion and vocals. They have played main stages at the Acoustic Festival of Great Britain, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Broadstairs Folk Week, Fylde Folk Festival, Warwick Folk Festival and Wirral Folk Festival.
Their music has appeared on BBC Radio 2’s Mike Harding Show and local radio stations, BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Wales.

They have released four albums to date. Two have been produced independently – Smile and England Stone, whilst 3-Side Island (which is the Wirral Peninsular) and The Boldest Blood have been with the folk label Fellside Records.

The Whitby Club has a large car park at the front of the building plus overspill parking at the rear, access to which is along Dunkirk Lane 200 yards from main car park. As the venue is used by many groups it is strongly recommended that early arrival is essential.
