Joseph Roberts was laughed at in school for writing poems.
Today he’s one of Liverpool’s most exciting young voices: an award-winning spoken word poet who has written for the Premier League, performed to crowds of 1,500, and founded the UK’s first poetry expo.
Inspired as a teenager by Benjamin Zephaniah, Joseph brings his Scouse wit and down-to-earth delivery to poems about football, Liverpool and the proper use of Scouse slang. Join him for a lively set, with a Q&A where you will also get a chance to ask him about his journey. He’ll also be performing poems from his new book, Built Different, a collection of poems about the joy and heartache of following Liverpool FC, with a foreword by Steven Gerrard.
A perfect introduction to spoken word for the whole family.
