UPDATE 22nd September 2021
Curtains set to rise on Floral full houses
New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion Theatre will be welcoming back audiences to all theatre performances, at full capacity, from October 1st 2021.
The first live event to perform at the theatre will be the All-Star Superslam Wrestling show on Sunday 3rd October at 3pm. This is just the start of a busy season of shows and events scheduled to take place in the theatre and the front of house areas.
Highlights from the Autumn 2021 – Spring 2022 season include family shows Peppa Pig – Best Day Ever and the Floral Pavilion pantomime, Beauty and the Beast starring Melanie Walters, Gwen from Gavin and Stacey as Fairy Bon Bon.
Tickets are also available for a range of comedy, musical tribute shows, classical and opera performances and touring drama and musical productions.
The Floral Pavilion will also be welcoming back regular events such as the Craft & Gift Fair, Book Fair, Choral Pavilion Choir and a number of children’s activity events all in the Plaza and Blue Lounge areas of the building.
While the Floral Café has been open, it will now increase the number of tables available for customers. The Café is open Monday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm and no booking is required.
However, for customers wanting to enjoy the popular Afternoon Tea - available Monday to Sunday 12pm to 3pm - booking is required by calling the Box Office phone line 0151 666 0000 or via the website www.floralpavilion.com
In accordance with national guidance, there will no legal requirement for visitors to wear face coverings or socially-distance in the venue, but visitors are asked to be aware of the COVID-safe recommendations on signage posted within the venue.
At present, there will be no requirement for visitors to demonstrate their vaccination status. The theatre has also retained an enhanced cleaning regime and there will continue to be hand sanitizer stations and wipes available across the building.
UPDATE 10th August 2021
With the rate of COVID-19 still remaining high in Wirral, the decision has been taken to cancel all shows and performances at the Floral Pavilion Theatre for the month of September.
The decision has had to be made this early in August to allow the Floral Pavilion to contact ticket holders, show producers and promoters in appropriate time.
Although COVID-19 case numbers have been dropping in recent days, the overall number is still high so with public and staff safety in mind, it is safer to keep the Floral Pavilion closed to full capacity shows for at least another month. The position is reviewed every week, with a further decision being made in four weeks.
Opening the auditorium doors and getting back to the business the venue does so well cannot come soon enough – but the health and the safety of the public and staff must be the first priority.
Staff at the theatre will be contacting producers and promoters to discuss the possibility of re-scheduling all planned performances. The theatre will contact all customers who have purchased tickets for an event directly affected, with updates. Please do not call the box office.
UPDATE 20th July 2021
Shows and performances scheduled to take place at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion Theatre between now and the end of August will not now take place due to rising rates of COVID-19 infections in Wirral.
Wirral’s infection rate is currently the highest in the Liverpool City Region with an average of 236 new cases every day. The theatre also has a number of employees currently in isolation due to either testing positive for COVID-19 or through close contact tracing.
This means that despite the national relaxation of COVID-19 regulations that took effect today, the decision has been taken to cancel scheduled shows at the Floral Pavilion on public health and protection grounds until August 31st.
Staff at the theatre will be contacting producers and promoters to discuss the possible re-scheduling of some planned performances. The theatre will contact everyone who has purchased tickets for an affected event directly with updates, please do not call the box office in the meantime.
UPDATE 16th June 2021
Floral Pavilion Café is open for indoor diners now that restricntions have been lifted, we hope to see you soon!
UPDATE: TUESDAY 17 MARCH
Floral Pavilion Theatre to close temporarily
Following the Prime Minister’s statement on Monday 16 March, advising people to avoid non-essential contact with others including visits to theatres as part of measures to tackle the coronavirus, the Floral Pavilion theatre is to be closed with immediate effect from today, Tuesday March 17.
The temporary closure of the theatre in New Brighton is part of the Council’s wider preparations to focus resources and staff on to the most critical services relied upon by residents.
Please can we ask that you not contact the box office regarding tickets you may have purchased. We will contact customers with information regarding all performances in the coming weeks. Hopefully the majority of performances will be rescheduled but where this is not possible we will be organising a full refund.
Cabinet member for community services, Cllr Julie McManus, said:
“It is crucial that we ensure our most vital services are able to continue, and this is one of the first steps we will be taking.
"The coming weeks and months are going to be difficult for everyone, and we are all going to have to work in different ways and adapt. We are also going to have to take into account the likelihood that many staff will be affected by the virus either directly or having to self isolate because a family members is showing symptoms.
"We apologise for the disruption and uncertainty but the health and safety of our audiences, staff and visiting companies is our first priority. We will be posting further statements over the coming days so please check our website and social media as we are unsure how long these measures will need to last.
"Thank you for your support during this difficult time and we will update you when further information is available to us."
UPDATE 26th February 2021
We are currently reviewing the roadmap leading to the reopening of theatres and hospitality set out in the latest government guidance. Please bear with us as we begin conversations with visiting companies due to perform over the coming months. As soon as we have further information, we will share this on our social channels, newsletter and website and be in touch with any ticket holders of affected shows by email. You can view the latest guidance here.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Floral Pavilion soon!
