To celebrate Wallasey Operatic Society’s 100th anniversary, they are bringing to the Floral Pavilion ‘WEST SIDE STORY’ a musical based on William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’.

West Side Story is set in New York City in the 1950s. The musical comprises love, passion, drama and gang rivalry between the ‘Jets’, who consider themselves true Americans, and the ‘Sharks’, who are first generation Americans from Puerto Rico. There are plenty of great songs such as ‘Tonight’ ‘Somewhere’ ‘Maria’ ‘I Feel Pretty’ and many more.

It originally opened on Broadway in 1957, and opened in the West End in 1958. A film of West Side Story was made in 1961 starring Natalie Wood which won ten Academy awards.

An exciting, modern musical – not to be missed.
